The Young Initiative Association (AYI) is a Romanian educational NGO that was founded in 2009. Our mission is to empower people through education. We do that through 3 main pillars of action: Social Inclusion, Youth Empowerment and NGO Development.

Institutionalised children (abused, abandoned, neglected) from Sector 4, Bucharest (The Center for Child Emergency Support Sector 4)
Children and young people residing in social apartments from the St. Spiridon Center Sector 4 Bucharest
Young people with few opportunities from Bucharest and Ilfov high-schools
Students and young professionals
International volunteers that come to Romanian through the European Voluntary Service/European Solidarity Corps
NGOs that work with volunteers from Romania and abroad
Nonprofit organisations and their managers
Public institutions and authorities which are active in elaborating and implementing youth public policies
What do we do
We organise 3-4 educational workshops every week for the children that are part of the Bridges to Knowledge project (literacy, non-formal education, homework support)
We offer a free library space, BiblioLounge, dedicated to youth leisure which is also available for free to NGOs which need space for free trainings, workshops and other events
We host international volunteers (EVS) with EU support in order to promote volunteering, non-formal education and civic engagement
We take part and organise international mobilities for youngsters and youth workers, with EU support
We draft youth policy recommendations and address them to local and national authorities
